My Book Reading in Wollongong was a Success
My #bookreading in Wollongong was a success thanks to the Honey Bee Cafe who hosted my book event and all the lovely ladies who came to hear me gush about my latest book, FAME & Other Disasters. They listened to me read two chapters from the book. We had a great time, questions were asked and books were purchased.
From the moment I stepped into this quaint cafe in my hometown, I knew this Friday morning would be special. The cafe is a charming place adorned with an eclectic mix of vintage furniture and has shelves brimming with a delightful array of books waiting to be borrowed.
The idea for me to do a book reading came from a good friend of mine and am I glad I listened to her. She helped to organise many of her friends to come along. She was even kind enough to send me this email note -
Hi Maria, I just finished reading your book Fame & Other Disasters and OMG I just couldn't put it down. I enjoyed reading every chapter and couldn't read fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. It was very exciting and interesting.
Hearing from fans is so satisfying and makes all the hours it takes to write and publish a book worth it. If you enjoy reading a book, please leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads, or contact the author directly through their website. Self-published authors like receiving feedback about their writing, as most authors do.

The Honey Bee Cafe Wollongong, where the book reading was held and the lovely ladies who attended.
It was held on Friday 28 February 2025.
The only thing I would change if I do this again is to bring a microphone. Other people were enjoying the cafe so I needed to speak loudly over the noise. The ambiance of where a book reading is held impacts the result. Luckily the ladies who came to listen to me heard me.
Everyone was engaged and listened to my reading. In this perfect setting with books around us, cozy furniture and enjoying the cafe's specialities, the atmosphere was great for such an event. And the books I sold are a testament to the success of the event.

As I am one of the founders of Sydney Authors Inked, I was pleased to have my event under this banner. SAI is a small group of authors who help other authors with writing and publishing. We help others achieve their goals by sharing our writing journeys.
There will be more events this year under this banner, keep an eye on the website -

Happy reading,
Maria P Frino
